Community planning groups are a good place to start.

SoNo Neighborhood Alliance strongly encourages eligible residents to participate and vote in the upcoming North Park Planning Committee (NPPC) and Greater Golden Hill Community Planning Committee (GGHCPC) elections in March, 2018.

To be eligible to rune or vote in the upcoming NPPC election, you must live, work or own property in North Park, have a valid Membership Registration Form on file and have signed in at at least one NPPC meeting from March 2017 through February 2018. Meetings begin at 6:30 p.m. at North Park Christian Fellowship, 2901 North Park Way, across from the parking garage. You are not required to stay for the entire meeting.

To qualify to run or vote in the GGHCPC elections you must live or own property or a business in the area. Greater Golden Hill Planning Committee voters no longer have to attend meetings prior to the elections. However, candidates for GGHPC seats MUST have attended two GGHPC meetings in the year before the election. The GGHCPC meets the second Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m., at the community meeting “clubhouse” at the Golden Hill Recreation Center. (This is a separate small building off of Golf Course Drive near Russ Blvd. and 26th Street.)

Local planning committees provide formal mechanisms for community input in the land use decision-making processes. Community Planning Groups (CPGs) provide citizens with an opportunity for involvement in advising the City Council, the Planning Commission, and other decision-makers on development projects, general or community plan amendments, re-zoning and public facilities.
